While we provide a video-based, self-paced learning option for students unavailable during regular school hours, the most effective approach remains instructor-led live instruction. We foster a student-friendly learning environment and enhance student engagement through active interaction.

We use various assessments to ensure effective learning. Questioning strategies keep students engaged during class and provide immediate feedback on students' areas for improvement. Traditional summative assessments are used to motivate better academic performance.

Our Vision
Empower STEM's vision is that every student in every school should have equal access to high-quality STEM education. Our curriculum is designed so that empowered teachers can lead diverse groups of students through experiences that are supportive, equitable, engaging, and lead to valuable learning.
Historically, this vision has contrasted sharply with reality. Many schools, especially those in disadvantaged neighborhoods, experience STEM teacher shortages and lack quality education. Additionally, many students find these advanced science and math classes unengaging, intimidating, or simply disconnected from their lived experiences. Thanks to the efforts of many organizations and individuals, this situation is beginning to change: many more schools now offer AP courses, more diverse students take these courses, and engaging, relevant, and equitable pedagogy has become the established norm. Even so, much work remains to be done. This AP Physics 1 course is designed to continue this momentum as the collective education community moves towards this vision of an equitable STEM education system.
